LOCAL FOOD THROUGH COMMUNITY STEWARDSHIP

INTRODUCTION TO FOOD FORESTRY WORKSHOP

Thursday June 4th, 7 – 8pm

Forest Heights Community Center

1700 Queen St W. Kitchener

Urban Bioshelter invites you to collaborate in the creation of a

Food Forest at the Forest Heights Community Center.

We had a fantastic turnout for the INTRODUCTION TO FOOD FORESTRY WORKSHOP. Thanks to all who participated. It was an interesting and exciting dialogue. Some really great connections were made with other amazing projects happening in the Kitchener/Waterloo area. Special big thanks to Susan Koswan and Chrystal Brandford of Wildlife Gardening for adding such important information to the workshop.

“This food sustainability concept is rooted in traditional indigenous peoples’ relationship with the land, and infused with permaculture design practices”.

Discussion:

Food Forestry and Fruit tree guilds

Access to locally grown organic food

Native plants for medicine and food

We intend for this project to inspire the creation of other food forests throughout Kitchener/Waterloo.
